Differences in Creative Direction

When we stepped into the Whipple Street kitchen, we had the rare opportunity to tell two very different stories in the same space — in the same day. Our first shoot was for Sucher Studios, whose work is defined by bold color, rich materials, and warm, inviting layouts. Our goal was to create images that accentuated the architectural gestures of the kitchen — the rounded corners, the terracotta-toned tile, and the sculptural hardware — while keeping the styling restrained enough to let the design shine.

Later that day, we reset the kitchen for Marigold Market, a brand built around slow, soulful living. This time, the focus shifted from architecture to atmosphere. We layered in Marigold’s pieces — hand-thrown ceramics, striped textiles, and collected objects — creating vignettes that feel lived-in and personal. Where the Sucher shoot was clean and editorial, the Marigold styling invited viewers to imagine themselves in the space, cooking, gathering, and pausing for quiet moments.

The result was two distinct visual narratives, both true to the space, but each tailored to its intended audience. For us, this project was a reminder that styling is as much about what you add as what you hold back — and that the same room can tell entirely different stories when approached with a fresh point of view.
